- Ben Duckett played well against spin and forged a stand with Joe Root
- Joe Root was at his best too, scoring a half-century
- Root scored a fifty but couldn't convert that into a three-figure score as Zampa dismissed him in the 31st over
- Ben Duckett went on to score 165 - the highest individual score in Champions Trophy history as England posted 351/8
- Mark Wood bowled an incredible first spell of four overs where only two deliveries were below the speed of 150kmph. He snuffed out Steve Smith after Jofra Archer got rid of Travis Head
- Matthew Short and Marnus Labuschagne gave Australia a quick move-on after the early couple of wickets
- Short got his fifty by Liam Livingstone dismissed him to dent Australia's chase
- Josh Inglis and Alex Carey then put on a fabulous 146-run stand as dew began to affect England
- Carey fell for a 63-ball 69 but Inglis went on to smash a 77-ball century - the joint-fastest in the history of the Champions Trophy
- Maxwell then chipped in with a 15-ball 32
- Australia completed the win - their first in the Champions Trophy since 2009 - in the 48th over
