Incessant rain breaks with the covers coming on and off had led to some dampness on the pitch and when the umpires came calling for the game to restart, it was the Royals' management that looked concerned about the nature of the pitch. But an excellent mix of cutters and quick ones by Ben Laughlin and a useful over by Dhawal Kulkarni ensured that the Daredevils fell short by ten runs.
