If week 1 at the ICC Women's World Cup 2017 was all about batting blitzkrieg, the bowlers came to the fore in the week gone by. And how! Little-known World Cup debutants put up performances that didn't always end up on the winning side but sure did turn the game on its head to set up an interesting subplot in the contest. Of course then there were some for the record books too. Interestingly, the week that saw the highest ever total being mounted in a women's ODI run-chase was the one that otherwise thoroughly belonged to the bowlers.

Ironically, the week started on a sour note with one of the most established names in the fraternity offering ICC a very "misguided" and "offensive" opinion, as the Australian spinner Jess Jonassen put it.
