While the rest of the batsmen fell like nine pins, Shakib took upon himself to fire. He hit back-to-back fours to get to his 19th Test fifty, a remarkable achievement under these conditions. He followed that up with a big six.

Riding on the confidence he got from his fifty, Shakib took on the Pakistan bowlers with renewed vigour. He hit some spectacular fours and troubled Yasir Shah and Wahab Riaz, who looked formidable in the first hour of the day. He is only a few runs away from getting a brisk century.

Bangladesh have crossed 200 runs!

Pakistan thoroughly dominated day 2 to emerge on top and wrest control over the second Test. They posted a mammoth total of 557 on the board before declaring and it has made all the difference. Their bowlers then put up an excellent display of craftsmanship to reduce Bangladesh to 107/5. Junaid Khan was brilliant with his line and length and Yasir Shah's googlies were absolutely unreadable.

At this point, it looks highly improbable for the hosts to avoid the follow-on. They are still 450 runs behind and they will have to bat out of their skins just to save this Test.

Let's see if Bangladesh can do something about it...

Wahab Riaz's persistence finally paid off when he managed to pick up the wicket of Soumya Sarkar in his second over of the day. He nicely set up the young man with a series of bouncers and bowled a full delivery. Sarkar drove it off the front foot but because of lack of control ended up hitting it in the air. Azhar Ali at short cover came running forward and took a good catch.

Riaz then dismissed Shuvagata Hom on a duck. A soft dismissal for him as he looked to defend a shortish delivery but was not able to get on top of the bounce. The ball took the shoulder of the bat, offering a simple catch to Shafiq at gully.

Alright then, only three more wickets to go!

Taijul Islam could not support Shakib as he was cleaned up by a Hafeez delivery on 15. He attempted an atrocious shot, just went for a wild slog and missed the ball completely. The off stump was rattled.

Bangladesh are just two wickets away from being bowled out.

Wahab Riaz almost got his fourth wicket of the game when he bowled Shakib on 23. However, it was on a no-ball. Shakib backed away and looked to slash, but he had exposed all his stumps and the ball crashed into the off stump instead. Luckily for him, Wahab had bowled a big no-ball. He had his hands on his head after bowling that one.

Shakib, however, needs to be more careful. That was a very irresponsible shot to play when your team is 7 wickets down.

Shakib Al Hasan survived an early scare when he was almost caught on 15 at gully. Wahab Riaz bowled a wonderful short delivery that surprised Shakib, who jumped and looked to fend, but the ball took the glove instead. Shafiq ran forward from gully, dived and got his fingers to ball but it burst from his hand. Full marks for the effort but it was a tough chance.

Pakistan reviewed a caught behind appeal against Shakib on 89 off Riaz's bowling. Shakib had attempted a wild hook but missed the ball completely. Riaz was convinced that the batsman had at least gloved the ball but replays showed that it was not the case.

Yasir Shah dismissed Mohammad Shahid and got his third wicket of the game. Shahid looked to flick but closed the bat face early and the ball went off the leading edge into silly-point's hands.

Shahadat Hossain, who injured his knee on Day 1, did not come out to bat and that was the end of Bangladesh's first innings.

Pakistan have decided to not enforce the follow-on and will bat again. Don't understand this decision at all! They are 354 runs ahead!
