Bangladesh and South Africa, who won their respective playoff semifinals, will clash against each other in what is set to be a keenly contested fifth place play-off game.
Bangladesh overcame England by five wickets while South Africa defeated New Zealand by 73 runs in their respective fifth place play off semifinal matches. The Asian country has mainly relied on Afif Hossain (213 runs and eight wickets) to pick up wickets and hold the innings together. In fact, it was his fine all-round show (71 runs and three wickets) that ensured Bangladesh surprised England in their previous game.
The Bangladesh camp will hope that the likes of Saif Hassan, the captain, and Towhid Hridoy can chip in with useful contributions. Saif, in particular, has been in good nick, evidenced by the half-century he composed in Bangladesh's play off clash versus England. Bangladesh, though, would be concerned with the lack of runs from two of their batsmen - Pinak Ghosh (80) and Aminul Islam (73). In the pace department, the duo of Hasan Mahmud and Qazi Onik (9 scalps each) have been among the wickets.
For South Africa, Raynard van Tonder has led from the front with two hundreds. Wendile Makwetu (184 runs), Hermann Rolfes (158 runs) and Matthew Breetzke, who composed a fine hundred in their previous match versus New Zealand, are the other mainstays of the batting line-up. Meanwhile, Gerald Coetzee (8 wickets) and the all-rounder, Rolfes (6 scalps), have been the chief wicket-takers. Coetzee, who plays for Saint Andrew's, doesn't just bowl with a fair amount of pace but is also a useful batsman.
